Once you start, Haven — our AI conversational guide — will ask how you’d like to share your story. You can choose from three styles:

Guided — Haven walks you through one focused question at a time, step by step through 8 topic areas. Great for structured responses. Takes approximately 8–12 minutes.

Open Conversation — A natural back-and-forth dialogue where Haven gently guides you through your experience. Best for detailed, in-depth stories. Takes approximately 10–15 minutes.

Let Me Tell You — Share everything on your mind first, then Haven follows up on key details. Best for quick, focused stories. Takes approximately 5–10 minutes.

What happens during the conversation?

Haven, our AI conversational guide, will compassionately walk you through sharing your healthcare experience. Haven will ask about what happened, when and where, how it affected you, how the system responded, and what you hope will change. You control the conversation — share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.

What happens after?

At the end, you’ll choose whether to remain anonymous (your story is used for research only) or indicate that you’re open to legislative testimony (The Smith Institute may contact you if your story is a strong candidate for state or federal hearings).

Is my information safe?
